About Jules

Hey there! You can call me Jules! I’m not just a birth worker; I’m a proud mama to eleven amazing children and a grandma, can you believe it?! I’m all about providing top-notch care to the incredible women of the greater Phoenix area.

But you know, life isn’t all about birthing babies. When I’m not witnessing these powerful women grow, birth, and nurture their little ones, I’m out on the Salt River, paddleboarding with fantastic friends. Life’s an adventure, and I’m here for it! Let’s honor the beauty of life and connection together!

My journey into birth work began with the births of my own children. The first four uncomplicated pregnancies and births, but fraught with interventions, went fine in my mind. It was your typical American birth situation to me! Then baby five was coming and my crunchy, natural friend circle introduced me to natural living and homebirth. That’s when I realized how unique I was to leave the hospital four times without having a surgical birth! I chose a self-guided pregnancy and birth for that baby…and then 6 more! During that time passion for other women to own their care and make educated and powerful decisions burned in me.

In 2008 I became an doula through CAPPA’s training while also learning how physiologic, undisturbed birth and postpartum care create spaces for women to feel safe and confident. I enrolled in Ancient Art Midwifery School in 2013 which included learning from wise women and midwives like Gail Hart, Gloria Lemay, Barbara Covington, and Maryn Green. I furthered my midwifery training with Indie Birth Midwifery School. I stay current in the birth world by attending conference and workshops, especially if they focus on vaginal breech birth, twins, or VBAC’s. Some classes and workshops I’ve taken include:

  • Lisa Barrett’s Wise Woman workshop where I learned skills on pelvimetry, breech birth, twins, & communication

  • Indie Birth’s DIY Prenatals, How to Avoid a Primary and Repeat Cesarean Section, How to Have an Indie Birth, After Birth: A Study on Postpartum Hemorrhage, and Midwifery Skills Workshops

  • Dr. Stuart Fischbein’s many twin and breech workshops

  • Amy Wright Glenn’s Supporting Women Through Pregnancy Loss.

My approach is all about providing autonomous, non-medical care because, in my heart, I know that pregnancy and birth are not medical events. I wholeheartedly honor and care for the whole woman, merging clinical expertise with the profound intuition of each individual. You, dear woman, hold the power to choose what’s not just safest but what’s absolutely best for both you and your precious baby.
